We want your essay!

We here at Geez magazine are throwing out a challenge: we want someone out there in Geez-land to produce the best essay on civil disobedience in North America.

We want you… or at least we want your stuff. This is a call to arms, only these arms hold pens.

Are you in college? Well then write your darndest, hardest-hittingest essay ever. Get an “A”, sure, but send it in and you might just top the category for “most courageous.” Other categories include “most passionate” and “most persuasive.”

In high school? Great! We need your stick-it-to-the-system essay too. We’ll select the “best high school essay” as well.

Wherever you are, if you’ve got an essay on civil disobedience, get it to us. Top selections in each category earn $100. They also get slated for publication in Geez magazine (subject to the editors’ discretion).

So lay it on the line and articulate your ways and means for civil disobedience (which we consider a form of non-violent direct action). Be persuasive. Be passionate. Be courageous. Be disobedient. Civilly.

Send us your essays by December 31, 2010. See our contests page for more details. Questions? Write to me, the contest coordinator, Reshal Stein.
