I pass this beautiful church daily. Though I don’t go inside, it is still just as calming, peaceful and spiritual outside. They are building a new 7-11 across the street. It’s losing it’s calmness.

Miko Shrine girls
My brother was in Okayama, a small southern town in Japan, when he saw a festival going on near a Shinto shrine. I thought the serene expression on these girls’ faces was very arresting. They’re normally girls who have other jobs, day-to-day concerns like paying rent and keeping up with clothing trends, etc., and yet for this moment, they’re the incarnation of something divine in the eyes of onlookers.
