Even with a red carpet, black tux, and white satin V-neck gown, Titus and Kaylie’s wedding was anything but ordinary. It wasn’t the music (Mendelssohn’s Wedding March) or the location (a high-end boutique selling upscale food, clothes and jewellery.) It was the fact Titus and Kaylie didn’t even know each other’s names. That’s because they’re dogs: Titus is a Jack Russell terrier, Kaylie a miniature poodle.

Avatar is awesome
Yes, Avatar’s graphics are awesome, but that’s not why I’ve seen it twice. It’s because I’m addicted to movies that beg me to overanalyze them, and Avatar has so much culturally loaded content that I just had to chew on it repeatedly.

Pope Mockery
Late in December 2009, the Vatican reinforced its stance on the protection of its image by announcing restrictions on the name, images and symbols of the Pope. The “Declaration on the Protection of the Figure of the Pope” protects the Pope from “the unauthorized use of his name and/or the papal coat of arms for ends and activities which have little or nothing to do with the Catholic Church.”

Ready or not, Michael Moore is back
His new film, Capitalism: A Love Story, opens with security camera footage of bank robberies, guys with masks and guns jumping over the counter filling bags with cash. Moore’s entertaining and infuriating two-hour argument is that capitalism is robbery but on a spectacular scale.

Thanks to Rob Peters, a friend of Geez, I found out about Herakut, an unlikely art duo that creates on-the-edge art. Hera is a classically trained painter while Akut is completely self taught. They bring their very different styles together to create art that is unique, beautiful and weird.
